The four-day activity of the land beyond named "Zagori 2021" was successfully completed, which was organized in collaboration with local cultural institutions in order to be a tribute to the 200 years of national polygenesis. The action was part of the National Program of Actions and Events coordinated by the Commission "Greece 2021". Specifically, the events that were organized were the following:
1] On Friday 20/8 in the central square of Ano Pedina, in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Panosudeniotes, an event dedicated to the "Modern Greek Enlightenment in Zagori and the scholar Neophytos Doukas". The speaker was Mr. Aristophanes Zampakidis, professor at the Supreme Ecclesiastical Academy of Thessaloniki.
2] On Saturday 21/8 at the Aloni Theater in Ano Vitsa, an event with a guest speaker Stathis Kalyvas, Professor of Political Science at the University of Oxford, with the theme "The revolution of 1821, why does it concern us today?".
3] On Sunday 22/8 in Elati, Zagori, in collaboration with the Cultural Association of Elati, an event with speeches by the historian Margarita Dimitriadou on "The diverse personality of Esat Pasha" as well as the radio producer, culturologist and Director of ERT Panagios Ioannis on "The Revolution of 1821 and the Folk Song".
4] The action "Zagori 2021" was decorated with visits to monuments and walking routes in villages of Zagori, while it ended with the crossing of Vikos on Monday 23/8.
The land beyond would like to thank all the institutions with which it collaborated for the implementation of the activity "Zagori 2021", first of all the Commission "Greece 2021" for the concession of the auspices, all the speakers for their non-profit participation, as well as the Cultural Associations of Panosoudeniotes, Elati and Tsepelovo for the valuable cooperation in a spirit of solidarity and offering, values so intertwined with the Zagori culture and history.
