On Tuesday, September 18 at 6.30 pm we presented the book of proffessor Costa Triantaphyllides on the Genetic Origin of the Greeks in the bookstore Periplous in the center of Brussels.
Scientific studies show genetic markers that have the central core of their spread in mainland Greece, the Aegean islands and mainly the Greek colonies on the coasts of Asia Minor, southern Italy and Sicily. This genetic pattern is associated with the "spread of the ancient Greeks", which begins in 2,000 BC. and peaks from 1,200 to 500 BC. It could be said that especially for Greece, the geographical map of the genes is an impressive proof of the continuity of the Greek genetic signature in the Eurasian space.
Emeritus Professor Costas Triantaphyllides was President of the Department of Biology at AUTh. with postdoctoral studies in Genetics in the USA, France and England.
