I work as a copywriter in an advertising company and I have the possibility to work remotely some days of the month. In June, I chose to work for a week from the Land beyond, in the magic village of Vitsa, Zagori in Epirus.
On a material level, the Land beyond offered me workspaces, fast internet, peace of mind and places where I could isolate myself to make my work calls with my colleagues. I had everything I needed to work completely seamlessly, as if I were in my office in Athens.
But most of all, the Land beyond offered me an amazingly beautiful and peaceful environment and the opportunity to try a completely different, more sustainable everyday life.
The morning run in the mountain and the afternoon short hikes were an unprecedented experience, which worked constructively for my work itself, in which I was more productive during the days I stayed in Vitsa.
I have to thank Jason Cholidis and Nikos Giannis, as well as all the people I met in the Land beyond. Their hospitality and generosity added significately to my experience.
The Land beyond is undoubtedly a great vacation spot. I would highly recommend it to people who have the ability and desire to spend creative, productive time there. In the post-covid era, many people seemed to realize that their lives are less dependent on the city than they thought. The concept of the office has become less restrictive, more relevant, since for many of us, our work can be carried along with our laptop.
I hope that my own generation, today's 30-somethings, will take advantage of the great opportunity that technology gives us for decentralization and a more natural - or even more personalized - way of life.
I hope that in a few years, places like Vitsa will not be just tourist destinations, but will be repopulated by young, productive people.
In this direction, organizations such as the Land beyond can be a catalyte.
