Easter Gastronomy, walking & talking, return hiking to Vitsa - Missios - Kokoris and Dilofo. An ideal Easter Sunday at Sarakatsaniki Stani at Gyftokampos followed by a presentation of the innovative Bekas Family Firm. Giannis Bekas, founder, hosted the event which included tasting of the different buffalo milk dairy products.

In November 1910 the weather was rainy. Vikos river swelled and drifted everything away. At some point a tree trunk blocked the bridge. The blocked water formed a lake, high enough to meet Kokoris bridge.  The bridge manage to hold the water however (Spyros Mantas, Epirus Bridges, Laiko Polyptyxo, Athens 1984, p. 34. The six volume monumental  work by Spyros Mantas «Bridges of Pindos», 2020 is available for reading in Feidous Library at the land beyond). Missios bridge where the trunk stood, ia a stone double-arched bridge, between Vitsa and Koukouli villages, in river Vikos, aka dry river (as it stays dry for long periods because of the porous limestone soil). It was constructed in 1748 by Alexis Missios from Monodendri. It is at an altitude of 773m, and has been restored twice, in  1938 by the Aggeliki Papazoglou Legacy and in 2006 by the Ministry of Culture. As we had the chance to note it is in good condition, the big arch has an opening of 18m and 10m height while the smaller one an opening of  6m and height of  5,80.

The youngest of the 21 participants, Nicolas, kept our interest alive during the hiking while he was constantly reporting information on nature and animals which was most welcome as we climbed back.
