Voidomatis Bridge - Klidonia

During the Greek national Holiday of 25th March some forty people gathered at the land beyond, adults and children, taking part in an activity full of moving, walking and talking, and community bonding.

Participants first met on Thursday evening, 24th of March, "En Chora Vezitsa” where we had a traditional Zagori dinner. On Friday, the 25th, the most courageous took the path leading to Skala of Vitsa (Vitsa steps) and to Missios Bridge.

Afterwards we welcomed at the land beyond, at Dyo Sternes, professor Aristides Hatzis, who gave a lecture on the Greek National fight for Independence: he explained how the Greek Declaration of Independence by Anastassios Polyzoides helped to make the national fight known abroad and motivated the Philellenism movement which supported it morally and materially. He mentioned the conflict between modernity and tradition inside the sein of the revolutionary polity; he furthermore explained how the most perfect Constitution of its era, the Constitution of Epidaurus, just after its voting in 1827, was suspended as soon as Ioannis Kapodistrias came to govern in the newborn Greek state. Not forget to mention that it was thanks to the Great Powers that the Greek state managed to get created since the civil war of 1825 has led the cause of Independence to a dead end. This power point presentation is an original work that prof. Aristides Hatzis made exclusively for the land beyond audience. No surprise that it was followed by a vivid conversation where interesting points arose. 

We spent the rest two days walking and sightseeing, visiting the Information Centre of the National Park of Northern Pindos, Megalo Papigko village, Aghia Paraskevi and Oxya, rafting at Voidomatis river. The hiking  from Voidomatis Bridge to Klidonia left us with the most remarkable impressions.

Another chance of community bonding among the land beyond members and friends came to its end leaving us with feelings of optimism that despite all odds we can see beyond the bleak atmosphere!
